I believe that art is ultimately an effort to communicate. The message could be an idea, a feeling, or a story.... but the artist must strive to communicate clearly without words, and hopefully in a way that words cannot.
Importantly, the viewer is the last part of the artistic process because they translate what they see into a meaning that is unique to themselves. You, therefore, are an integral part of the artistic communication.
