This piece is about person change. The figure is helping pull her own wings out of the cocoon. She has six hands which represent her potential to accomplish many things at once. Her enigmatic eyes look out toward the horizon while gazing inward reflectively.
Raku is one of my favorite methods of creating ceramic art. In Summer 2009, I made my own Raku kiln. Raku combines the lustrous beauty of metallic rainbows & coppery sheen with the drama of roaring fire and the immediate gratification of seeing your finished work right away. It is a very compelling combination!
